Signs of a Bad Battery

One of the worst feelings in the world is putting the key into the ignition and not hearing the car make a sound. In such a scenario, it is likely that the battery has died. While it may be possible to start the car again by using jumper cables, that may only be a short-term solution.

If the car tries to start when the key is turned, the car may have a bad alternator or starter instead. You can also test to see if the battery is dead or weak by using a voltmeter. This tool measures the number of volts that the battery produces, and it should create at least 12.6 volts of power when working properly.

When you need your battery checked, bring it to our service center here at Royal Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM in Oneonta, NY for service. This may make it possible to diagnose and fix an issue in a timely manner.
